Jacqueline Samuda is an actress, writer, director and voiceover performer who has worked in the major entertainment industry centres of North America – Los Angeles , Toronto , Vancouver and New York City.
On March 8, 2008, Jacqueline is honoured at Women in Film & TV Vancouver’s Spotlight Awards with the Sharon Gibbon Lifetime Member Award for service to the organization and the advancement of its mandate. At the same event, she also receives the inaugural Motion Picture Producers’ Industry Association/Women in the Director’s Chair Feature Film Award of $100,000 of services toward the production of her long-form directing début of her screenplay BREAD, which has also received three rounds of development from Telefilm, BC Film and Movie Central, supported by distributor Christal.
As a performer, Jacqueline is a 2008 Voicey (Voiceover) Award Finalist and is the voice for several animated projects, videogames and national commercial campaigns. She appears in a recurring role in L Word (airing on Showtime, March 2008), and reprises her role as the evil alien Nirrti in the Stargate-SG1 movie “Continuum” (release, July 2008).
Jacqueline serves as President of the Board of the Pacific Cinémathèque, and on the Advisory Board of Women in Film & TV Vancouver. Her busy career has also included instructing screenwriting at Vancouver Film School and UBC, and story editing and script consulting for many production companies and government funding bodies. She regularly sits on juries for film and television awards, and is a frequent guest and moderator on entertainment industry panels, live and in various media.
